Details of 1911 Proprietor Albeit that sources give the proprietor's name as H G Howlett, the 1911 chemist in residence was Mr Franks. 'HG Howlett' was probably Mr Henry John Howlett and he perhaps had more than one shop.

John Henry Franks was born 1868 in Heckington, Lincolnshire. Married 1907 Ella Henrietta or vice versa Burnham (born c.1882). He probably died in 1953.

Children - John Henry Stevenett (born 1909, married Ivy J Denman), Mary Ella L (born 1915, married William J Holdhan).
Details of building, where known This was the first chemist's shop in Ewell and before that had been the premises of William Killick, builder's merchant. George Perry had his fruiterer's shop here until he moved to Number 33.

Two storeys plastered, four windows - two sash and two casement to first floor. Simple 19thC shop to angle of road (double canted) and two sashes with shutters to ground floor. Old tiled roof. Early 17thC. Another description says that this was an 18thC timber-framed building built to fit the street line. 19thC shop at one time divided for two families.
